Since 2021, the Crestone Dark Sky Committee has been organizing annual events to honor and admire our dark skies, as well as bring awareness to our magnificent skies and the importance of maintaining little to no light in our community.

May 14, 2021

Crestone's Inaugural Dark Sky Community Event and Celebration took place on May 14, 2021 after a long and detailed process of applying with the International Dark-Sky Association.

August 21, 2021

Another festival with the community happened at the conclusion of that first summer, complete with vendors, food, live music, dancing and celebrating our gorgeous night skies!

This event was held at the Colorado College - Baca Campus, and was filled with presentations, dancing, vendors, food and celebratory live music and dancing Cloud Station afterwards.
